Welcome to all entrants for the 2021 Arrochar 10k – 18th September @ 10.30am

Please note that as this race is being run under a Scottish Athletics Permit – No Dogs or Prams are allowed on the Course. Please note also that no headphones should be worn for the duration of the race.

Change of Route from 2018 (and earlier) Race

The last time the race was run in 2019 Forestry & Land Scotland informed us that a bridge that we used to run across was being taken down. We ran a slightly different route in 2019 because of this and this route found favour with the runners so we have decided to keep this same route this year. This section will be well marshalled with appropriate signage to ensure you take the correct route. There is also another slight change towards the end of the race whereby you enter the Cobbler Car Park and then immediately turn right and run round the outside of the car park instead of running through the car park. There is a trip hazard but a marshal will be at the hazard making you aware of it.

Arriving at the Race

If you are local, please walk to the start if at all possible.

Parking – There are two car parks at the head of the Loch in Arrochar. Luss Estates own the car park opposite the garage and they have kindly given us permission to use this car park for the race but it will not be able to accommodate everyone. There is a charge of £1 per hour in either car park. Both car parks will get filled up very quickly. There is additional parking at the Village Hall and the local Church of Scotland. There is a small amount of parking available at the Fire Station as long as fire engines can still exit the building. The Loch Long Hotel have also given permission for cars to use their car park. If parking in the Loch Long Hotel please give your registration number to reception on arrival.

Although not everyone will be able to park in the Luss Estate Car Park, those that can will need to show their race number to the marshal on arrival at the car park.

If arriving by train – the Station is Arrochar & Tarbet. When you come out of the train station turn right to go to Arrochar, the village hall is approximately 10mins from the station and the start line is around 20 minutes.

Race Numbers

Your race number will be posted to you two weeks before the start of the Race. Please display your number clearly on the front of your vest and complete the medical information on the reverse of your number.


The Village Hall will be open from 9am for toilets.

Further toilets are available at the car parks where the race starts and finishes and the Loch Long Hotel are happy for the odd runner to use their toilets. There are toilets just over half way round the course at Ardgartan although this year you will need to do a small detour to use them.

Race Details

The Race starts at 10.30am prompt and all runners must be at the start by 10.25am for a very brief Safety Briefing. The safety briefing will highlight any course information that needs to be imparted but it is imperative that you follow any instructions from marshals and ensure that you do not run on the main road at any time – if you need to overtake someone in front ask them to let you do so by shouting to them. Runners should stay in single file when running alongside the A83 to allow faster runners to overtake them without having to step off the pavement.

Warm-Up Area – for safety reasons, please use the start area to warm-up and not the main road, pavements around the car parks or the car parks themselves. This year there will be no marshals helping runners cross the road to the start so please ensure you take extra going to the start.


Please bring your own water for the start of the race. Unlike other years we are only having one water station at around the 6km stage – this will consist of a long table laid out with small bottles of water with the cap still secured. If you take a bottle of water could you ensure you drop the bottle at a marshal or carry it to the end.

You will receive a further bottle of water in your Goody Bag.

First Aid

A nurse will also be situated at the water station at the 6km mark and a doctor will be situated at the finish area.

Prize Giving

We would love to see as many of you as possible back at the Village Hall although this year it will be a bit different from previous years where free coffee and cake was available for all runners. This year we would ask you to wear a mask on entering the hall and go straight to a table – tables will be laid out for four people. Once seated at the table you can take off your mask. On each table there will be a variety of juices and a few cakes/biscuits for you to share. Prize Giving will take place just after midday and we would ask that prize winners come up to the stage to collect their prize but then return to the table but be prepared to have a group photo of prize winners taken outside at the end of prize giving

Prize Categories

There are significant trophies for the overall winner, 1st Local Male, 1st Local Female but these will be retained, engraved and displayed in the Village Hall and the runners will be given replicas.

  • 1st Female (Local)

Definition of Local - The Local Trophies will be awarded to the first male and first female to finish the race who have registered with a postal address within fifteen miles by road of the start. Please email [email protected] if you wish to be considered for this category.

Ex Local - There will also be a prize for the first male and first female to finish the race who have strong family connections to Arrochar, but no longer live here. Please email [email protected] if you wish to be considered in this category.

Other Prizes - There will be no spot prizes this year as we have taken the decision not to ask the local businesses for prizes due to the difficulties many have had with the pandemic.


Results will be posted on this website by the 23rd September at the latest.


We hope to have a few photographers around the course – any photos taken will be uploaded to this website and will be available without charge.
